Gone to L.A., be back soon...

I wish. All I can hope for is that the Crazy 4 Cult exhibit will make it's way to Dallas one day, and that Kevin Smith will host the reception... at my house! It's basically a collection of some very cool and very creative artwork inspired by cult classic films. Some of them are very obvious, and some are a bit harder to figure out at first. Luckily, each piece has the name of the movie that inspired it to the right of the image.

Here are some of my favorites, see if you can figure out what movies they are referencing. I'm going to be keeping my eyes peeled for prints of some of these, as they are releasing one each month, limited edition of course. Now that's solid.

Roid-aids...

As of today, that's how I spell relief! See, I was in a kind of unhealthy relationship with this guy named Streptococcus, aka Strep (his street name). It was fun (for him) while it lasted, but he was taking too much time out of my day. I had to miss a day of work, spend $25 at the doctor's office, and really, the relationship was just too painful. I had to cut him loose. Got a steroid/antibiotic shot at the doc's office, and some kick a** antibiotics, and I'm already feeling soooo much better. He had a place to crash for a few days, but I had to kick him to the curb. He'll be fine. I heard he gets around, if you know what I'm saying...

I just hope I don't wake up tomorrow looking like one of these slightly-toned gentlemen. Though I did go to the batting cages last night, hoping I could hit one of those Barry Bonds style home runs, but I guess maybe you need at least two shots before that's possible. Gotta go work on my guns. Word.

Happy Trails

Well, we are back in Funky Town. We had such a great time in Ruidoso, getting to hang out with everybody, enjoying the mountains, and not being at work. I hope we do it again next year! The only sucky thing is that my cousin and aunt got sick, and I think I've brought it back with me. I am just glad they are feeling better, and at least I wasn't sick during the week. We left Ruidoso on Saturday morning, and the drive back was good. Erik took some photos to document the journey. On the way back we stopped off at the UFO Museum in Roswell, New Mexico. It was an interesting place, lots of X Files posters, newspaper articles and alien-inspired memorabilia. They even had their own library, which is where Erik was standing with the stuffed alien. The first few photos are from Friday, and the rest are from our drive back to Texas. It was a wonderful fantastic fun week, but tomorrow it's back to work. I can't contain the excitement...

A Day at the Races

Today was quite the adventure. The massages/mani-pedi experiences were interesting to say the least, then lunch brought even more drama/craziness, and after a short rest at the house, we headed out to the horse races at Ruidoso Downs. So much fun, even though we only went through about 5 races. It was actually Erik's first time at a horse racing track, ever. I think he had a pretty super time. He will be guest writing on my blog very soon, about our bizarre lunchtime experience today. Luckily Jessie and Erik were relaxed from their massages (though their masseuse was apparently quite the tree hugger and very very chatty) or else the lady at the cafe would have two black eyes and a few less teeth. But I will let Erik explain it fully, since he's the one who ended up with a lap full of ice water, and not in a good way.

Tomorrow (today) is our last full day of vacation up here in the mountains, so I'm going to try and enjoy it to the fullest. I'll probably start off the morning sitting out on the deck, enjoying a beverage. Good stuff, good stuff.

Erik is a Dill

Well, yesterday was a full day. Breakfast was greatness, then Erik and I went shopping for a bit, then hit up the casino with Jessie, my mom, my Grandma and my aunt Linda. Of course they are much better at the gambling thing than I am. Then my cousin Jenny made a delicioso dinner, and we all headed out for a round of extreme mini-golf. I say extreme, because the course was tore up from the floor up. We showed it who's boss though. I came in 2nd on my team, but I think that's because Erik may have done some 'score shifting' if you know what I'm saying. Yeah, I think you do. Jessie got a hole-in-one, and my cousin Jenny got two HIO's. After our rousing game of extreme mini-golf, we came home and realized that dreams do come true, as 'Rock of Love' was on Vh1. If you haven't heard of 'Rock of Love', well, then that's just too too bad.

Today, massages will be had, and maybe a mani/pedi. Then we are heading to Ruidoso Downs for some horse racing action. I, like the horses, am ready.

Postcards from Ruidoso Pt. 2

Today was great, made a new friend (the first two photos), a hike happened, and we watched 'Millions' outside, using a projector Erik brought. I gotta say it was pretty nice getting to watch a movie outside, in the mountains. You can't beat the cool mountain air, and the possibility that a bear might wander up at any moment. Tomorrow we're going to have a kick a** breakfast at this place called The Log Cabin, and then maybe partake in some mani/pedi action, and perhaps a massage. Still on the menu, fitting in a high stakes game of miniature golf, wagering on some horse racing, horseback riding and of course, more quality time spent sitting on the deck enjoying the scenery. Gotta get up early, time for sleepy sleeps.

Postcards from Ruidoso

Last night we set up my cousin Jessie's Nintendo Wii in the garage, and used a projector to, well, project it on the wall, so it was life-size. So fun! Tonight we are going to watch this movie called 'Millions' on the projector, and cook some burgs and dogs out on the grill. I'm going to make three pies, my contribution to the desert menu. In the meantime, I think I'll see about finding a good hiking trail. Above are some various photos from the past two days. Solid.

Anything For A 'Buck'

Some of us went to Cattle Baron for dinner tonight, and I noticed this snazzy little license plate in the parking lot. It reminded me of someone...

I guess the owners of this car would do anything for a 'buck', but not too much for their car. My guess is that it's deer-collision damage, and they want to remember that day forever. Brings a tear.

Casinos are Fun.

Well, they are fun, except when you realize you should have cashed out an hour earlier than you did . But I digress. A long day of driving, and too many (although fun) hours at the casino, then having to wake up my cousin to get in the house at 1:30 am. It's already been an adventure. Hopefully tomorrow we'll get down with nature and do some hiking, maybe a little retail therapy (maybe better wait a day or two, until the loss we've just experienced wears off). Party.

My Destination...

Yeppers, Ruidoso, NM. It's one hell of a drive, but it should be a terrific time. I'm going to try and update my blog (and all 4 of it's readership, so devoted) with photos and musings. It will be super. Totally. :)

Oh yeah, gotta remember to pop into Package Liquors, pick up some hooch. Time for some maxing and relaxing...

Oh yes, this looks like Friday.

Handy

What could be better than a handful of handmade hand soaps shaped like hands? The answer is, courtside tickets to a Mavericks game and a large Coke, or maybe some Prada Loafers (like I'm that cool). If you are in need of an interesting gift or just feel dirty a lot, and think washing your hands with hands sounds titillating,
then click here. Freak.

A Joke, Just for You...

A neutron walks into a bar and orders a beer.
"How much do I owe you?" he says.
"For you," says the bartender, "no charge."

What? Marilyn thinks it's funny.

Superdog's Trainer

Okay, so it's really a genetic mutation (double-muscling), but it's funny to imagine him working it out in the gym with a mesh muscle shirt and some spandex shorts. Click here to see more crazy photos of Belgian Blue cows, the buffest cows in all the land.

Stackhouse is Staying

Yay! Jerry Stackhouse is staying with the Mavs for the next three years, which means he will probably retire here. So great I can hardly stand it! Jerry had this to say:
"The deal is done, I'm happy to be staying put. [Mavs owner] Mark [Cuban] and the organization stepped up for me and I'm really proud of that. Now we need to get a ring."

Amen Stack. Amen.
