Slick Rick - "Children's Story" 1988

This was probably my first favorite rap song, and it still holds up. Here's a little "Children's Story" trivia:
Children's Story is a song by Slick Rick. It is a tragic tale that can be interpreted as an implicit condemnation of violence and greed that has often been referred to as the hip hop counterpart to Johnny Cash's "Don't Take Your Guns To Town". It samples "Think (About It)" by Lyn Collins and "Nautilus" by Bob James, two class. It features a single, almost four-minute-long verse without instrumental breaks or a refrain. A testament to the influence of Slick Rick, his lyrics have since been sampled and reincorporated in countless hip hop songs.

In 2004, "Children's Story" appeared in the popular video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, on classic hip hop radio station Playback FM. The song was also featured on the rival True Crime: New York City soundtrack.

Now that is a fly jam.
